Hau Mitakuyapi! (Hello my Relatives)

On June 25, 1876, an ancient alliance of tribes – Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapahoe joined in solidarity to protect their sovereignty and their way of life to defeat what was then believed to be an undefeatable army of the United States. Today, on June 25, 2026, 150 years after the Battle of the Greasy Grass, (Little Big Horn) Native people and their allies have come together once again to protect their sovereignty and way of life.

 

Four Directions Native Vote – Indian Country (FDNV-IC), the premier Native led national voting rights nonprofit located on a reservation (Rosebud) has made it its mission to address historical and contemporary injustices against Tribal communities through equal access to the electoral process during state and federal elections, advocacy in the Census, concerted efforts to election protection in Indian Country, litigation, and evolving Federal Indian law to benefit tribal interests.

But that’s not all Four Directions will be doing. Four Directions will take a lead role in voter education and engagement through its democracy academies; FDNV-IC will insure that Indian country leadership will be able to address state and federal candidates on issues specific to Indian country, they will seek to bring more attention to the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives, and it will be a driving force in the effort to restore the honor to
the United States Army’s Medal of Honor and its legitimate recipients by seeking the revocation of those medals given to the participants in the murder of women, men and children at Wounded Knee.

The men and women on Four Directions Native Vote – Indian Country who serve on its staff and Board are themselves dedicated “Fearless Advocates” who are committed to Indian Country. We look forward to you standing with us as a “Fearless Advocate” on behalf of Indian Country.
